Flying out of a world-renowned gliding site in Omarama, our members have the opportunity to harness the natural energy from the interaction of sun, wind and our unique geography to soar above our stunning southern alps; its mountains, rivers, lakes, glaciers and the magnificent Aoraki Mount Cook. All without an engine!

Membership to the Otago University Gliding Club is free! You will gain access to emails regarding upcoming trips - also check out our Instagram @otagouniglidingclub for announcements.

On a trip, we carpool and camp to cut down costs. All you pay for is flying! Those under the age of 26 get half price rates. It is $35 for a winch launch, $1.33 per minute for glider hire, plus a $15 landing fee for your first training flight of the day.

You'll go up with a qualified instructor with dual controls, get a feel for the controls and for soaring!

Once you've given it a go, the OUGC can help you through your training and show you what more gliding has to offer. If you want to join a dynamic, like-minded group, who simply enjoy the freedom of flight, this club is for you!
