Thursdays in Black Otago
Thursdays in Black is a student-led movement working towards a world free from sexual violence.
We believe sexual violence is a significant problem on tertiary campuses, but we believe that a different reality is possible.
We encourage people to wear black on Thursdays to show support and solidarity with survivors of sexual violence.
We believe the way to change statistics about sexual violence is to: see, acknowledge, understand and address these issues.
We believe in the importance of raising awareness and providing education and conversation about the issue of sexual violence on tertiary campuses.
Thursdays in Black Otago runs semi-regular events raising awareness and providing education around the issue of sexual violence on campus.
We encourage all students and staff of the University of Otago to stand with us, and wear black every Thursday to show support and solidarity for survivors of sexual violence.
