EXECUTIVE ELECTIONS

This meeting was called in the event of any late nominations received as an administrative error in the advertising stated different times for the closing of nominations.  The Executive amended a motion on 1 August to bring the time of closing back to 12pm from 4pm to assist the Critic staff with layout deadlines.

Norhan arrived at 4.04pm

Josh Smith submitted his nomination form around 2pm and the Secretary refused it owing to it being late.  She advised him he could appeal this decision to the Executive within 24 hours.  He advised the executive in writing so the appeal could be heard at the scheduled Emergency meeting.

The executive were divided in their decision to accept or reject this appeal.  Josh was part of the vote to change the date. “He was in the privileged position being on exec when this resolution was made”.  Others stated this needs to be treated as any student coming in with a late nomination realising the error in advertising.

Josh apologised and asked that this be considered as the original time was still in his diary and he would love to continue representing students next year.
