UNIVERSITY OTAGO PACIFIC ISLAND STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION UPDATE
Tele’ gave an overview of their week.
OUSA UPDATES
No health and safety incidents or accidents to report.
Budget 2025, Orientation preparation, especially ways of marketing it, Beerfest prep, discussions with the ASB on their lending opportunities.
AFFILIATION
The purpose section on the constitution needs more information included.

CRITIC ARTICLE ABOUT INITIATIONS
The executive is to come up with some fun activities to take part in during the break. There is a strong desire to take the emphasis away from the unsafe inappropriate initiations held in the past. Initiations are supposed to be the bonding of new people living together. Keegan has a list of ideas, and the executive will choose 5 or 6 to take part in and let Nina at Critic know so they can be included in issue 21 of Critic.

LIFE MEMBERS NEWSLETTER
The Alumni office have kindly offered to put out a life member of OUSA and associate’s newsletter. The executive to come up with a name to call this and help with the content.
Former Presidents are being contacted for an interview, including Professor Sir Murray Frederick Brennan GNZM – OUSA President 1964 and Grant Murray Robertson former Labour Party MP, 19th Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand and currently the University of Otago Vice Chancellor – OUSA President 1993.

There were many questions and suggestions of reducing the cash deficit and to reach targets. Debbie will work with our Accounts Office to achieve these targets.
It was also requested that a plan be worked on to reduce risk.
The Executive will hold a budget meeting at 1pm on Tuesday 27 August in the Bullpen or via zoom.
