GUESTS:

Francisco and Jomana were invited to address the meeting to speak their letter on the executive’s decision to ‘abandon’ the position to support the Boycott, Divest and Sanction (BDS) Movement.

They expressed that the student body had spoken with the results (53.3% yes, 31.5% no.) of the Referendum held and OUSA should do the rights thing, especially as this was done without consultation or notice. There is no expectation that OUSA shift immediately on the BDS campaign affecting funding and sponsorship.

Daniel as the Finance, Strategy and Expenditure Officer asked what implications this would have on OUSA’s already struggling finances going forward.

We should work with the groups at Otago and consider talking to VUWSA who have implemented a process. There was clarification requested on what list OUSA should be using as there are many online.

Francisco and Jomana were thanked for their attendance.

Moved from the Chair

371/25 THAT the letter from MP Francisco Hernandez regarding BDS dated 6 August 2025 be received.
