MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 9 SEPTEMBER 2019 AT 9:19AM HELD IN THE CLUBS AND SOCIETIES CENTRE, ALBANY STREET, DUNEDIN

PRESENT

Georgia Mischefski-Gray (Chair), Bonnie Harrison, Matthew Schep, Ben McCook-Weir, Jack Manning and Kerrin Robertson-Scanlon (via cell).

IN ATTENDANCE

Debbie Downs (Chief Executive Officer), Donna Jones (Minute Secretary), Joshua James (Tertiary Education Union National Campaigns Manager), Charlie Hilton and Hennessy Griffiths popped in briefly)

            It was emphasised that the substance discussed in this part of the meeting stays in the meeting and is completely confidential.

GUEST:  UNIVERSITY/TEU COLLECTIVE BARGAINING

Joshua James was invited to address the meeting. He is the National Executive member of TEU and wants to build stronger relationships with OUSA. 

He explained the recent decision to amalgamate the Polytechnics is taking up a lot of his time at the moment. He will come back with a formal plan later on.

Jack left at 9.55am and returned at 9.57am

 

2020 BUDGET TO THE STUDENT BODY VIA REFERENDA

The 2020 budget is being finalised and will be submitted to the executive soon.  In the meantime we need to set a Referenda date to present the budget to the student body in plenty of time for marketing to be prepared.

383/19 THAT the Secretary be directed to call a Referendum from 9am 3 October 2019 and close at 4pm 8 October 2019.

            It was agreed to ask for questions from the student body for the Referendum 3-8 October 2019 to adminvp@ousa.org.nz closing at 4pm on 17 September 2019.

ELECTIONS 2020 PLANNING

  • AVP will create a roster for the static polling booth in the Link
  • Secretary and AVP will check out the Starters Bar for the evening Presidential debate and order food platters
  • Matthew offered to help set up Forums
  • Critic offered to live stream the forums
  • Donna will ensure microphones are organised
  • Please get out and lecture bash when you can

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

GENERAL BUSINESS

Mayoral candidate forum – this was a great success.  Excellent turn out of candidates and also audience.

Other local body candidate forums being held in the Link –

  • DCC                            - 12-2pm  17 and 18 September
  • District Health Board – 12-2pm  23 September
  • Otago Harbour Board –  12-2pm 24 September

These will be advertised on the Exec chat page.  All encouraged to attend.
