HEALTH AND SAFETY
Nothing to report. The Health and Safety Committee met recently.
OUSA UPDATE
- Big focus on funding options for repairs to clubs and societies building. Debbie, Michaela and Josh met with Anna Frost from the Department of Internal Affairs to assistance and guidance in applying for grants and also to look out for a commercial broker.
- The Design meetings for the Clubs and Societies revamp are underway with all contractors.
- Executive elections 2022 – staff have been advised to not to endorse candidates and remain neutral.

TE ROOPU MĀORI UPDATE
- Dress rehearsal on 27 September for kapa haka championships in Auckland.
- Maori Graduation this week will be combined with a memorial service for Tim Rogers who passed away a couple of years ago.
OTAGO UNIVERSITY PACIFIC ISLAND STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION UPDATE
- Pacific Island appointment now going through VCAG
- Ministry of Health have set up a Covid Clinic here in Dunedin for Pacific Island people
- Melissa will attend a Pastoral Code Advisory Board meeting in Wellington
- OUPISA Elections on 3 October
NZUSA UPDATE
There was a National Council meeting held via zoom last Friday. Not a lot to update, however there will be a review of the Welfare Officer position and the committee.
Andrew discussed a campaign in the planning to bring back Universal Income. He will update later.
There was a discussion about finances and all agreed OUSA must write a letter to NZUSA as soon as possible.
GRANTS
OUSA is in the process of registering to apply for community grants to repair the Clubs and Societies building roof etc.

309/21 THAT the OUSA Executive delegate Debbie Downs, OUSA Chief Executive Officer the authority to apply for grants with the Otago Community Trust, Alexander McMillan Trust and the Lotteries Community Facilities for the OUSA Clubs and Societies Building.

MOU WITH OUSA/TRM – AFFIX THE COMMON SEAL

312/21 THAT the Common Seal be affixed to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Otago University Students’ Association (OUSA) and Te Roopu Māori (TRM).

OPEN LETTER TO NEW ZEALAND RUGBY
As emailed. Correspondence was received asking for OUSA to urge New Zealand Rugby to end the six year sponsorship deal between the All Blacks and INEOS Group Limited. New Zealand is recognised and celebrated globally through the All Blacks. INEOS is one of the world’s biggest plastic polluters as well as a UK/EU oil and gas company that directly extracts fossil fuels, driving climate change.
Suggestions this letter be shared with all sports bodies for their support. Also suggested a picket line could be held outside the Highlanders head office when the next major rugby match is scheduled

313/21 THAT the Open letter to the New Zealand Rugby on the INEOS x All Blacks sponsorship deal be received and submitted.

NZISA Future Female Leadership conference – 18 September in Auckland
Submission – Mhairi working on a submission on the Conversion Therapy Bill.
