About Student Media
Student Media is the umbrella for OUSA media outlets, Radio One and Critic Te Ārohi.
 
Radio One is a unique environment that provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in radio broadcasting and provides a platform for them to have their voices heard by the community. Known for their diverse and eclectic programming, Radio One has a mix of seasoned professionals and eager students who are passionate about what they do.
 
Critic Te Ārohi is a magazine designed and freely available for students with the opportunity to connect directly with the student body. Predominantly operated by students themselves, Critic’s mission is to encourage and empower the next generation of thinkers and writers to share new perspectives and foster new talent.
 
About the role
As Student Media Manager, you will play a vital role in uniting our student media outlets, Radio One and Critic Te Ārohi. This substantial role is an exciting opportunity, that will shape and develop OUSA’s media offerings to our students.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
• Lead and support Radio One and Critic Te Ārohi teams to provide relevant and creative content to our students.
• Identify opportunities for growth and implementation of a strategic plan for student media.
• Sourcing and reporting for ministry grants and other external funding.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations and staff management of Radio One and Critic Te Ārohi teams.
 
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
• A strong background in media, communications, or a related field.
• Previous experience managing staff at a senior level.
• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification.
• Strong relevant networks within the media industry.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
