OUSA Orientation '22 Presents: Good Mahi - Okāhau Dune Project - CANCELLED
Good Mahi is a volunteer day brought to you by OUSA Orientation and UniCrew If you're interested in getting your hands dirty and giving back to the community, this is the day for you!
Due to the move to the red traffic light setting, we cannot go ahead with the Good Mahi project at Orokonui, as due to their Health & Safety regulations, they do not allow volunteer groups.
We now will be partaking in the Okāhau Dune Project
The purpose of the Okāhau Dune Project is to re-establish the threatened native sedge pikao/pingao to its native environment on the dunes at Warrington (Okāhau) beach
Work may include shovelling compost and gravel. Nursery work may include moving plants up to the new site from the old and weeding, as well as potting up pikao seedlings into bigger pots to be possibly planted out at Warrington later this year.
The tasks will be split between our two nursery sites at the Runaka itself: 121 Grimness Street, Karitane, the other at the new Mara site: 1200 Coast Road, Karitane.
Saturday 26th February
9am - 3pm
