Sewing 101

WHAT ITS ABOUT

Introductory course to build your confidence with the basics of sewing on a domestic sewing machine. 2-week beginner course, giving you solutions to threading, machine settings and troubleshooting, as well as understanding seams and how to choose easy-to-work-with fabrics to get great results for your future sewing projects. In the second session you will make a versatile drawstring bag you can use to keep your future sewing projects or supplies together.

Once you have completed this course you can move onto the Sewing: Guided Sessions

REQUIREMENTS


No Experience is required (thats what this course is for!) and we have sewing machines at OUSA you can use!

 

A LITTLE ON THE FACILITATOR

Fiona has led sewing classes for the last 9 years, passing on her passion for sewing and design through her social enterprise Stitch Kitchen. Fiona studied Clothing and Textile Sciences at Otago, and has worked in all levels of the local fashion industry. She loves introducing new people to the creative freedom of sewing, and the positive impact of slow fashion. 

 

Please note registrations close 72 hours before course starts 

Want to use one of the sewing machines outside of the course? You can flick us an email to request the use of a sewing machine. You must have done one of our sewing courses first.
