Modelled on the Cambridge University event made famous by the film Chariots of Fire. Competitors attempt to complete the circuit of the Otago University registry building before the midday music and chimes of the clocktower have finished.

This is a historical event that has begun in 1990 at the University of Otago, created by the now amalgamated Hill-City University Athletics and Harrier Club.

This event is run in partnership with local sponsors for event prizes.
