Outer Limits Dunedin
featuring Peking Duk, Alison Wonderland, Sigrid and Maala
Live Nation, CRS and OUSA have put their heads together to create OUTER LIMITS FESTIVAL, a brand-new event just for Dunedin.
26/02/2018 UPDATE: The organisers of Outer Limits festival regret to announce that Atlanta rapper Young Thug will no longer be making the journey downunder due to being unable to secure an Australian visa.
Young Thug was granted a New Zealand visitor visa on 12 February 2018, so he is entitled to enter New Zealand and to perform. Since his Australian tour dates were cancelled we have tried to get him to honour his commitment to play in New Zealand, but to no avail. Young Thug has made the decision not to come to New Zealand.
Stepping into the breach however we are delighted to announce that Australian dance pioneer Alison Wonderland will now be performing as part of the festival.
Australian DJ and production duo PEKING DUK return to Dunedin with a huge array of hits including the massive song ‘Stranger’ that won them Song of the Year at the 2017 ARIAs. They may be no strangers to New Zealand crowds but they’re an act you can trust to bring the party vibe, reinforcing their status as one of our favourite acts from over the Tasman.
ALISON is a true pioneer of electronic music and she has risen to become one of the most popular EDM acts on the planet. Her appearance at Outer Limits crowns another huge summer with her star set to rise even higher through 2018.
Synth-pop star SIGRID had a huge 2017 with the breakthrough single ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’, appearances at major events including Reading Festival and a spot on the Justice League soundtrack with a stunning cover of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Everybody Knows’. 2018 is already shaping up to be even bigger - Sigrid has just been named the BBC’s Sound of 2018.
Fusing singer-songwriter and electronic styles, MAALA is one New Zealand musicians to watch. His full-length debut Composure landed him four nominations for the New Zealand Music Awards, and won him the Best Male Artist award. In 2017, he was the first ever Kiwi artist to perform for MTV’s Unplugged with a live show at a packed Auckland Town Hall concert chamber, proving that it’s not just locals taking notice of this Kiwi talent.
The perfect introduction to Dunedin and student life for first years and a fun night out for Otago music lovers, this new festival brings the best line-up of global talent the South Island will see this summer.
